New jersey registered public works Contractor Interest Form

Are you a New Jersey Department of Labor–Registered Public Works Contractor interested in working to reduce operating greenhouse gas emissions from commercial buildings through the NJ Cool Program?

The New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) has funding available for improvements to existing commercial buildings that reduce operating greenhouse gas emissions through the NJ Cool Program. This funding is from the state’s participation in the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI). NJEDA is making up to $15 million available in the program’s first pilot phase, expected to open in Q1 2024. This pilot will be limited to projects affecting existing commercial buildings located in Newark, Edison, or Atlantic City. Additional municipalities may be added in future phases of the program.

Commercial building owners or tenants interested in applying for funding from the NJ Cool Program must use a New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development (NJDOL) Registered Public Works Contractor(s) (see current full list here) and abide by State prevailing wage and affirmative action requirements. Following the success of the Child Care Facilities Improvement Program coordination with NJDOL, the NJEDA is again sharing information about this funding with all Registered Public Works Contractors and Subcontractors. Commercial building owners or tenants may contact Public Works Contractors directly. However, the NJEDA also recognizes that some property owners or tenants may feel overwhelmed by the NJDOL list or not know where to start in identifying a Public Works Contractor.  NJEDA hopes to eliminate those barriers by providing additional information on Public Works Contractors’ areas of expertise and methods for property owners to make contact.

To help connect potential applicants with Registered Public Works Contractors, the NJEDA will develop and maintain a public list of contractors that have expressed interest in the program. This list will be made available as an optional resource to potential applicants.
