Career Opportunities in Offshore Wind

Exploring Training and Career Opportunities in Offshore Wind

This webinar explores ways in which people may enter the maritime workforce and find ways to grow professionally in the industry. The various types of services that vessel operators provide are also explored in depth. The webinar has been recorded so that it may be used as a resource to let people know that they can be a part of this industry whether they have a four-year degree or not, and that these are family sustaining, well paid positions.

In May, 2024, on National Maritime Day, NJEDA hosted an in-person Roundtable on Maritime Services and Workforce initiatives for the Offshore Wind (OSW) industry in Atlantic City. Recognizing the need for greater awareness amongst all stakeholders in this value chain, the roundtable gave us a platform to express gaps, challenges and next steps we should all be paying attention to. As a follow up to this, the NJEDA hosted a virtual Webinar led by Julie Shebroe ofNorthstar Marine, Ray Henderson of Seafarers International Union, and Sloane Perras of Clean Energy Terminals, to dive deeper into the career pathways and trainings that exist in the Maritime industry that are available today to graduates and job seekers. Some new initiatives that are a custom fit for the OSW industry were also discussed.

Please share this video so that it may reach as many people as possible. All of us have a role to play in reversing this decades old trend of mariner shortage and a lack of interest in this very vital sector of the American economy.
