2024 Office Hours
Office Hours are an excellent choice for companies that are likely to seek funding in the next 12 to 24 months. The initial step to secure funding from Golden Seeds is to attend the office hours in New Jersey. Registration links appear below. During these sessions, you will have 10 minutes to present your company, followed by a 5-minute Q&A session with the investors. NJEDA-Golden Seeds Partnership
Governor Phil Murphy’s comprehensive plan for building a stronger and fairer economy in New Jersey includes a goal of creating the most diverse innovation ecosystem in the nation and doubling venture capital in the state. Furthermore, the Governor’s plan calls for closing the racial and gender wage and employment gaps. One means of closing wage and employment gaps is to close the funding gap for female-led startups.
In support of this goal, the NJEDA has worked with First Lady Tammy Murphy to organize a New Jersey chapter of Golden Seeds to focus on New Jersey women-led businesses.
Golden Seeds is an angel investment firm dedicated to pursuing positive investment returns through the empowerment of women entrepreneurs. The group was founded in 2005 and is headquartered in NYC. Golden Seeds membership of about 300 members is dedicated to evaluating, funding and helping companies with at least one woman in an upper management role who has an equity position.
Through a partnership with Golden Seeds, the NJEDA is creating the opportunity to increase available capital for women-led businesses as well as mentoring women entrepreneurs with an anticipated outcome of supporting and growing New Jersey women-led businesses. This partnership creates an economy for women led businesses to thrive and closes the racial and gender wage and employment gaps.
With a Golden Seeds chapter in New Jersey, members will be able to work together to identify investment opportunities, conduct due diligence, monitor the companies’ progress and provide needed support. This contributes to creating a strong, cohesive and robust angel investing community that will contribute to the growth of women in the C-suite.
