New Jersey Child Care Facilities Improvement Program Public Works Contractor Interest Form
Are you a Department of Labor Registered Public Works Contractor interested in helping improve child care facilities through the New Jersey Child Care Facilities Improvement Program?
The New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) has $54.5 million in grant funding available to child care providers for improvements to child care facilities through the New Jersey Child Care Facilities Improvement Program. NJEDA is making up to $25 million available in the program’s first phase, opening in October 2022.
Child care providers interested in applying for funding from the New Jersey Child Care Facilities Improvement Program must use a NJ Department of Labor Public Works and Workforce Development (NJDOL) Registered Contractor(s) and abide by State prevailing wage and affirmative action requirements. In addition to being a registered New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development (DOL) Public Works Contractor, contractors must also meet the following requirements:
- Contractors and their subcontractors must register at SAM.GOV and are subject to a debarment check
- Contractors must agree to pay prevailing wage, which is set by county and by construction trade
- Contractors with 4 or more total employees must abide by affirmative action requirements
- Contractors must only hire subcontractors that are also Public Works Registered Contractors
The NJEDA is sharing information about this funding with all Public Works Registered Contractors and Subcontractors, in coordination with the NJDOL. Child care providers may contact DOL Public Works Registered Contractors directly. However, the NJEDA also recognizes that some child care providers may feel overwhelmed by the DOL list or not know where to start in identifying a DOL Public Works Registered Contractor. NJEDA hopes to eliminate some of those barriers by providing additional information to child care providers including valuable information on DOL Public Works Registered Contractors’ areas of expertise and methods for providers to make contact.
To help connect potential applicants with DOL Public Works Registered Contractors, the NJEDA will develop and maintain a public list of DOL Public Works Registered Contractors that have expressed interest in the program. This list will be made available as an optional resource to potential applicants.
