STATE SMALL BUSINESS CREDIT INITIATIVE (SSBCI)
The State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI) Life Sciences Venture Program is dedicated to fostering innovation and growth within the NJ life sciences sector. Our program provides crucial financial support and resources to NJ life sciences companies raising Seed to Series C funding rounds with our partner fund managers.
PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
- Financial Support: NJ Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) through the Federal Government SSBCI program provides matching funds (up to $5M) to NJ entrepreneurs that will be supported by the fund managers listed below. There must be at least a 1:1 public/private matching funds for NJ life sciences firms raising capital. The Venture Capital or Private Equity mangers listed below will provide due diligence, follow the compliance requirements and invest in the NJ entrepreneur.
- Mentorship and Guidance: Our program connects entrepreneurs with experienced fund managers who provide invaluable insights, guidance, capital and support throughout the entrepreneurial journey.
- Partner Funds with access to SSBCI Funding
- Signet Healthcare Partners: Signet Healthcare Partners invests in NJ companies that are raising a Series B or C round. The companies of interest are: pharma service providers, or in manufacturing, or generics, or research, or business pharma, or medical devices, or diagnostics and in the commercialization phase.
- Tech Council Ventures: Tech Council Ventures are interested in NJ companies raising seed, series a or b rounds and are active in digital health, medical devices, biotech, healthcare IT.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
To qualify for the SSBCI Life Sciences Venture Program, entrepreneurs must meet the following criteria:
- Be a New Jersey registered business entity with a primary focus on life sciences innovation.
- Demonstrate a proof of concept for your research/product or company with commercialization proof evident or apparent.
- Have a scalable business model with the potential for significant impact in the life sciences sector.
Interested founders can submit their investor deck by sending an email to: SSBCILifeSciFund@njeda.gov confirming what round of funds and the amount you are raising. Please put SSBCI Life Sci Fund and the name of the manager who should receive your deck in the subject line. You will receive a receipt of your submission. If the fund manager is interested, you will be contacted.
